ACCA - Applied Skills - Taxation

This course introduces students to the subject of taxation and equips them with the fundamental knowledge of the underlying principles and major technical areas of taxation, as they pertain to the activities of individuals and businesses. The syllabus commences by acquainting students with the rationale and functions of the tax system. Thereafter, it delves into a detailed analysis of the separate taxes that an accountant would need to have proficiency in, including income tax from self-employment, employment and investments; corporation tax liability of individual companies and groups of companies; the national social security and pension/benefit fund contribution liabilities of both the employed and self-employed individuals; the value-added tax (VAT) liability of businesses; and the capital gains tax liabilities of both individuals and companies.
